Troy is a 22-time Emmy Award winner and has been nominated over 50 times for his work as a Documentary Film Director and television journalist. He has been teaching and directing documentary films here at MSU for the past 10 years. His most recent film was picked up by Vision Film Distribution and is now available on, Itunes, Vudu, Xbox, and many other platforms. His film work has screened at over 15 film festivals around the country. He was nominated for Best Short Documentary at the Orlando Film Festival, he has won 7 Remi awards at the Houston International Film Festival, and has 2 audience choice awards.

Before working at MSU, Troy worked as a Reporter for Press Pass TV out of New York and as an Investigative Journalist with KMSP Fox 9 Television in Minneapolis, MN. Troy has had stops at WSVN Fox 7 in Miami, ABC 6/FOX 28 in Columbus Ohio. ABC 24 in Memphis and NBC 25 in Hagerstown, MD. Along the way he has picked up an Edward R. Murrow award, 2 Associated Press awards, 3 National and 10 regional NPPA awards. Troy is known through the industry as a creative visual storyteller and a perfectionist. Troy is the Director, Editor and Cinematographer for his own company Tricky Hale Films.
